It's a while since I've done one of these, so I'm playing catch-up with a number of reviews. Here we have Across The Universe, Walk Hard - The Dewey Cox Story, There Will Be Blood, Margot At The Wedding, I Want Someone To Eat Cheese With, Gone Baby Gone, Juno and No Country For Old Men choking down globules of warm criticism.

We've got a special double edition of this week's Torchwood review, due to the BBC's 'wise' decision to move the show to a Friday timeslot and show two episodes last week.

Ah, the joys of parenthood. There's no shortage of literature and broadcast media exclaiming the happiness and satisfaction that a child can bring. But parenting has a dark side. With the joy comes responsibility, and, in most cases, a intense desire to protect the child in your care. It's a tough job, which is why the COI were happy to help. Here are PIFs that either gave warnings to children themselves (often played in school assemblies), or their carers.

Gwen Cooper’s engagement is a perfect case study for the changes made to Torchwood since its first series. What would have undoubtedly been a fraught element, with the big day drawing closer as her job ate away at Gwen’s once-normal life, has instead been left in the background, quietly getting ready for its moment in the sun. Unfortunately, while Phil Ford’s script makes no real mistakes, it doesn’t allow the story to fulfil its full potential.

John and I decided to attend this year's TedFest because we'd missed TedFest '07, due to only learning about it at the last minute. We knew there'd be fun when emails from the organisers ended with 'Careful Now'. But just how much? Read on...

Joseph Lidster occupies an unusual place in the array of professional fans working for the Upper Boat. While the likes of Paul Cornell, Mark Gatiss and Rob Sherman have enjoyed extensive careers outside Who fiction, it is primarily Lidster’s high quality writing for Big Finish which has given him the basis for his Cardiff employment. It quickly becomes obvious, however, that the conclusion of the programme’s "Post Mortem" arc has been placed in a very skilled pair of hands.

This week, Comics Daily's Dynamic Duo bring you lesbianism in Buffy, babysitting in Cable, and the Blitz in our dusted off issue of The Dreaming. We also cast our eyes over Ultimate Spider-Man and The Comic Formerly Known As Adjectiveless X-Men, and speculate over Grant Morrison's plans for the Dark Knight...

Right, firstly, I can't actually link directly to this, because in the BBC website's infinite wisdom, it changes the Feedback page depending on the site based on the referer - so if I directly link to it, it'll go to the normal Feedback page rather than the Doctor Who one. Absolutely abysmal website design.

When speaking about the first series of Torchwood, Russell T Davies openly nominated They Keep Killing Suzie as his favourite episode, although adding that “we couldn’t be this dark all the time”. Obviously, he feels that once a year is about right.

The first article in this series looked at road safety PIFs aimed at motorists. Of course, any road safety campaigner worth their salt knows that you can't just address one group of users and hope for the best. It takes two to make an accident, so in this concluding article on road safety PIFs, we take a look at the PIFs aimed at cyclists and pedestrians, primarily children.

And we're back, with another week's worth of comicsy goodness courtesy of sister blog Comics Daily. This week, our main reviews are Mark Millar and John Romita Jr's ultra-violent and hilarious take on "realistic" superheroism Kick Ass, and an issue of Grant Morrison's Batman run in which things finally start to make sense. We also look at Ex Machina and Ultimate Human and James dusts off a 1996 Venom miniseries. And in the Sunday Pages, we look at what the end of J. Michael Stracynski's exclusive Marvel deal might mean for DC fans...
