» Lily Allen - Alfie
Popjustice have come up trumps again for linking to the video for 'Alfie', by far my favourite song on Lily's album 'Alright, Still'.
God, this is great. The puppetry looks faintly familiar as well, so I'd love to know who made the puppets. The birds in particular made me laugh out loud. Horrah for Lily!

I am severely disappointed by your lack of coverage on a certain film release.

I'm obsessed with Lily. I wish I was the puppet.
Erm...why?

It's a great video. The birds are fantastic.
And I love the song too, although it's the kind of thing that's going to divide people. I personally wish that more pop music was this silly and fun, rather than dull.

As someone says in the youtube comments, the song sounds a bit like it rips off Puppet On A String. It doesn't have 'hit single' written all over it but the video and 'controversial' lyrical content (oh my GOD her brother smokes WEED!!!) will make it get noticed. Not that Lily needs to be noticed any more. 5/10.

I meant "Why the hell do you want to be the puppet?" Not "Why are you obsessed with her?"
It's not like the puppet sleeps with her or anything. It's just some ugly thing that lives in the house. He might as well want to be ceiling cat.

Yes, that's clearly the point of the song.

I know but that line is as manipulative as her "I'm-the-same-as-all-you-chavs" image that pisses me off. Her music is all right though. I just hate record companies/producers going all-out to get money from under-16s, although they've always done it. It's just now they have to latch onto the whole 'chav culture' thing (I like how Robbie Williams's attempt at that with Rudebox fell flat on it's face somewhat! Even though it was supposedly a 'spoof', yeah right, more like a manipulative marketing ploy). I'm just going to shutup now because I'm boring myself.

I think Lily might be having a little joke, rather than trying to shock, or anything. I wish more music videos were this amusing.

Oh, and yes, it DOES sound a bit like 'Puppet on a String', doesn't it?
