UK Gold Being Shit Part #374623

For fuck’s sake, UK Gold, get a decent master if you’re going to bother showing something. Just look at the detail lost on the lamp, for instance. The print was also as dirty as fuck, as well, although you can’t see it from that screengrab.

The sad thing is, some people at UK Gold obviously care what they’re doing - there’s a wonderful trailer showing at the moment for Filthy, Rich & Catflap and Bottom, set to Rolf Harris’ Two Little Boys. It’s really, really well done. So why the hell can’t they find decent copies of the stuff they broadcast?

Those of you wondering about why the top and bottom are cropped on the DVD master, and you can see more picture on the UK Gold copy - I don’t know whether this is a DVD mastering error, or whether the intended aspect ratio is simply being preserved. This happens quite a lot - on some films, the top and bottom are intended to be masked. Obviously if this isn’t the case, the DVD copy is equally as problematic - does anyone know for sure what ratio the Carry Ons were meant to be in?

I can only think of one person who would ever, ever post this sentence on this site. Marvellous.
