Noise To Signal

» Verity Lambert

On this of all dates, it's being reported by Outpost Gallifrey that legendary BBC producer Verity Lambert has died. BBC have yet to report/confirm the story.

It's not overstating things to suggest that without her, we probably wouldn't have Doctor Who; nor to describe her as an incredibly influential producer, and one of the most important women in the history of British television - a trailblazer in every sense of the word. Very sad news indeed.

Very, very sad.

It's no exaggeration when I say that G.B.H. genuinely changed my life. Aged all of 15 my understandings of psychology, politics, writing, performance and just what TV drama can DO were totally revolutionised.

Kudos, Verity. A hell of a career.

My god...I never knew she was Executive Producer of Clockwise; that's a favourite film of mine. Sad she didn't get to pick up a Lifetime Achievement award, but she probably already knew how amazing she was.
