Doctor Who Prom

Just a quick reminder that this is on tomorrow morning - that’s Sunday 26th July @ 11:00am on Radio 3. More details about the programme can be found on on the Who site.

The important bit to remember is that whilst you’ll be able to listen again to the performance, during the interval a special mini-episode, Music of the Spheres, will also be played at the concert. This will also appear on the Who website, but apparently only for a short time due to rights issues. So make sure you’re around at 11:40am to have a watch before it DISAPPEARS FOREVER. (Or: not.)

The concert itself is also being recorded for telly. What’s the betting it shows up around Christmas?

Ah. I thought I’d missed it. Then I realised I’m in a different timezone. Hehe. Thank God for that, then.

It is.

It is weird listening to an episode without images to go with the sound. Where’s the description track when you need it.

Oh, the original Delia Derbyshire arrangement used for the end credits! What a lovely touch.

I was about to come on and complain about how shit it was, then the end credits came on and melted my heart.

I rather enjoyed the whole thing, for what it was.

THOUGHT FOR DOCTOR WHO FOR THE DAY can fuck off, though. Can’t wait to get back to the music.

That was a bloody lovely performance of the Doomsday music. The choral stuff on this is great.

Well, I don’t care if it’s expensive, next year I’ll go see this. The Doctor Who exhibition won’t be there anymore then ;(

Wonderful stuff. Plus, it had my favourite piece of music from Series Four in it - the ‘Saving River’ track. Hopefully we’ll get a soundtrack with that on soon…

You’ve got this the wrong way round, I think. The Proms was a one-off, as far as we know, and I can’t see them doing a Who Proms next year. But there are always Doctor Who exhibitions taking place all over the country.

You think? Shame… I thought it was a regular thing now. After the “Celebration” in Wales.

And yeah, I know about the other exhibitions, but it would’ve been handy if both things would’ve been in London where I can stay at friends’ and don’t have to travel the UK for money ;) and the website said the one in London’s the biggest so far…
