Most optimistic spin ever?

From this Marvel Press Release, as seen on Newsarama:

This the mysterious first re-appearance of [Spider-Man's] black costume

Interesting way to describe the truth, which is that the comic that explains why Spider-Man is wearing the black costume is incredibly late due to delays plaguing the entire Civil War crossover.

Still, you've got to give them credit for trying.

Peter David did a great job with the first Dark Tower issue.

Shame he's been doing such crap work on FNSM, then.

No, I do mean that, it really is a shame. His writing style should have been perfect for Spidey. I can't believe how completely badly he's cocked the whole enterprise up.

To be fair, he mostly blames it on the goalposts for his run being constantly shifted. I tihnk that's pretty fair. The book's barely been out of crossover mode (though, when it is, it's turned out some pretty dubious spidey stories of late, so maybe it is partially his fault..)

Well, I suppose in The Dark Tower he's using mostly Stephen King's dialogue from the books (for now, once they get past issue 7 it's all-new material, albeit still outlined by King) and I have a feeling it was written a good while ago as the series was delayed for a year (the art is certainly '05).

Well by comparison, his X-Factor work is easily the best X-Title being written right now, and by all accounts Fallen Angel is great too, so it's hard to tell whether the blame on the quality of FNSM should go to him or not. I'm inclined to believe he's been mostly messed around too much on that particular title.
