RE: Sandi Thom. Am I wrong?

It goes against everything I at least try to stand for in regards to my musical tastes. In reality, I should greet the arrival of Sandi Thom with the same disgust as similar warblers such as Joss Stone and the like. But... she's really bloody good, isn't she? I mean, this could actually mean she's *totally* different to Joss Stone and I'm wrong in making the comparison, but it seems like the same sort of pseudo soul, to me. It's just that Sandi seems to do it well.

Anyway, I've only heard one song (I Wish I Was a Punk Rocker) and I love it, that much I do know. On top of that her album is entitled Smile... It will Confuse People which makes me liker her even more.

Also, she's very pretty and lovely.

You're wrong. She can fuck off. Her album title reminds me of the sort of shite schoolgirls scrawl on the front of their exercise books, and that punk rocker song is *awful*. What's the point of wishing for something that's so easily achievable? If you want to be a punk rocker, just go out and get records by Sex Pistols, The Damned, Buzzcocks, etc. No point singing a fucking song about it. Also, how many punks have you seen with flowers in their hair?

She can fuck right off.

I think what it basically comes down to is I fancy her.

I'm so easily manipulated by the womens.

Pitty that the song is horrible, yes? Reminds me a bit of Tracy Chapman with the style that she seems to be going for, only nowhere near as authentic and with little talent in comparison.

I like the album title, other than that Symes is very correct.

I've finally heard this. And Cappsy, you are wrong. It's fucking diabolical.

I thought she was going to be another Katie Melua type singer, but it's worse than that - she really is trying to be like Tracy Chapman. Lyrically it's just dreadful - it has no meaning (there were no such things as punk rockers in 1969, punk rockers don't have flowers in their hair, and it's fucking FUCKING hypocritical to sing about yearning for a time when accountants didn't control music and "the media didn't own your soul" when your success is the direct result of a carefully orchestrated and managed campaign by your label). Her success is founded on utter bullshit - the "webcast" story is riddled with lies and half truths.

She symbolises everything that is so fucking wrong about music these days, and she can fuck RIGHT off.

I *heart* Popjustice. It's like reading Smash Hits when it was good.
