Media Guardian Being Useless Part #286483

Quick, before they correct it!

"Mr Fincham has promised to reinvigorate comedy on BBC1. He has reunited Ben Armstrong and Lee Miller, the comic double act last seen on Channel 4 five years ago..."

Ben Armstrong and Lee Miller? Would it hurt, in the interests of decent journalism, to at least get their fucking names right?

This is the Grauniad we're talking about... if there weren't typos every now and again (read: every day) then there'd be something seriously wrong with the world. It's a consequence of, you know, being all hippy and wearing loose-fitting clothes and spilling lentils on the keyboard.

To do with the article, but not the post:

The pair, now tied to the corporation for another three years, will make two more Little Britain specials, then begin work on a Saturday night sketch show which will retain some familiar characters but also introduce new ones.

Retain familiar characters? What's even the point? Move on, boys, for crying out loud.

I despise Media Guardian in particular, though. They seem to specialise in stupid mistakes. I mean, I know I make them on G&T, but I think mine are usually more sensible ones to make - and I don't have an entire editorial team backing me up, either...

I remember when IAP2 was broadcast, they said that the first series didn't have a laugh track. And then used this "fact" to compare the show unfavourably to The Office. I mean, WTF?

Exactly my thoughts. If they're supposed to be doing a different show to Little Britain then it makes no sense to keep their old characters. It's just a cynical way of holding on to viewers. If they want to keep their characters, then just keep doing Little Britain instead of pretending to be diverse!

Gah.

I read that it wasn't going to be a sketch show but more of a sitcom. It's probably gonna be a Lou and Andy sitcom or something, with other characters dropping in now and again. As long as they make the Christmas specials of Little Britain the last I don't care. They really fucking lost it with series 2 and especially 3.
