Filthy, Rich & Catflap

Nice to see UKTV G2 giving this an airing.

But on the first episode tonight, they cut out the entire first scene. This is a great sequence introducing Richie and Eddie, and lasts about two minutes. It's our first introduction to the characters - and it's just gone. FFS. I gave up watching after that - I couldn't trust that the rest of the programme hadn't been fucked about with.

The sad thing is the DVD is edited due to music rights issues; so a TV broadcast is an ideal opportunity to present the show as originally intended.

There's no malice involved. It's just that obviously the people at UKTV don't care about programme integrity - they keep doing this kind of thing time and time again. But I wish, just wish, they actually gave a damn about the programmes they broadcast occasionally.

(Oh, and here's a clue: if you want to have professional presentation, use *one* continuity announcer. Don't just paste together various people's pre-recorded stuff - especially when one voice is a man, and the other is a woman. And the voice changes between sentences of the same programme junction. It just makes you look like a bunch of amateurs.)

Oo-er!

But yeah, I know what you mean. Based on their treatment of shows, it would seem that UKTV blows great big monkey chunks.

Just checking - the first episode lasts for nearly 35 minutes on the DVD. So that's presumably they cut it to last their usual 40 minute slot (with adverts).

It doesn't make any sense, though - UKTV already use 40 minute slots to fit the adverts into a half hour programme - so it's not like they start things tidly on the hour and half hour anyway. Why not just give it a 45 minute slot, keep the programme intact, and save a bit of money at the same time?
