Untransmitted Celebrity Squares Pilot

Here.

Piccies here.

A shame this didn't go into production, as it could have been pretty good. I love the set especially.

Interesting how he says it's the most celebrity-heavy show on TV. This must have been before Strictly Dance The Fuck Off On Ice.

I was only mentioning Celebrity Squares the other day. That for Justin Hawkins, after eurovision an appearance on a remake of this or Blankety Blank was clear the next move.

I thought the set looked bloody awful, actually. The squares themselves were impressive, but the overall setting was dreadful, and far too dark. Also, lowercase names? Piss off.

By the way, how does something like this become available? I didn't think pilots like this were allowed out of the vaults. Maybe it's been released because it isn't that bad. Some pilots must be pretty fucking awful.

The uploader was a member of the production team.

I'm not very keen on the lowercase names - I don't have a problem with them usually, especially on end credits, but I don't think they worked very well there. And the stretching and squashing doesn't help either. I love the rest of the set though - especially the stairs on either side. Still, the main attraction was the squares themselves.

Also - the presenter is competent, but really bland. You need someone as good as Bob Monkhouse. Still, there's very few decent gameshow presenters around these days - Noel Edmonds on Deal or no Deal is by far the best currently. I was just watching some Strike It Rich on Challenge the other day, and was in hysterics - and marvelling at how great Michael Barrymore was.

It's such an incredibly difficult job... and there aren't nearly enough talented people doing them at the moment.
